How much do we kids know about the history of the community we live in? Not much, I can tell you that! That’s why I came up with the idea of a historical scavenger hunt as a fun way to help us all learn more about our town. The Great Hunt will take place on Saturday, March 2nd, 2013, at the parking lot behind Shula's Hotel on Main Street in Miami Lakes. The grade level for the participants is Kindergarten through 8th grade.The first participant from each category to finish The Hunt by turning in a completed map, which means that their map will have a stamp from each station they discovered, will receive a grand prize. Second and third places for each grade level will also receive a prize. All participants must register online before the day of The Hunt. So, talk to your parents and if they will allow you to participate; have them go to the REGISTRATION TAB on this website and it will direct them to my registration page on EVENTBRITE. Once you register there, you will be able to print a ticket to bring as proof of registration the day of the event. Post it on your refrigerator so you don't forget! Make sure you keep your LATEST REPORT CARD handy because you will need to bring it the day of The Hunt as proof of your grade level. No Exceptions!

Now, you have lots of work to do before The Hunt. I suggest you start by reading any historical information that has been published in The Miami Laker in the past few months months, talk to your family, friends, teachers or anyone that knows about the history of Miami Lakes so you can learn about the history of our town and have a better chance at winning the day of The Hunt. You don't have to know much about the history of our town, but it will surely come in handy! BTW, check out the PRIZES TAB! Many great prizes await you! Good luck!
